About Steve
I grew up in the horse industry. My family owned a small breeding and training farm in Northern Dutchess County, New York. We owned, trained, and raced many of our homebreds in the New York Sire Stakes and County Fair program for over twenty years. I have also worked as a caretaker and trainer for horsemen in the harness racing industry. In 1988, I began a career as a farrier (horseshoer) in Orange County, New York, working on all breeds of horses until 2020, when my wife of thirty-two years retired from her career as a teacher, and we moved to Southwest Florida. I am still a practicing farrier, working part time. My love of the Trotting horse is what inspired me to write Midnight’s Hambletonian.
